Biography

Sanjay Bhandari has over twenty years’ experience litigating complex civil and criminal matters, having served as a federal prosecutor of white collar crimes, SEC enforcement attorney, federal judicial law clerk, and litigation partner at top law firms. In government, he was twice awarded one of the Department of Justice’s highest awards, and in private practice he has been recognized as a leading attorney in numerous publications.

Mr. Bhandari has tried over twenty cases tried to verdict, from intellectual property infringement to securities fraud, before juries, judges, and arbitrators. A representative sample of matters he has handled includes the following matters:

  • Defense of individual targeted in U.S. and foreign government investigations into overseas bribery and money laundering allegations; U.S. investigation resolved without charges, and charges dropped abroad
  • Defense of individual in S.E.C. insider trading inquiry; investigation closed without charges
  • Tried broadcast company’s copyright and trademark infringement claims to jury verdict of several million dollars, including attorneys’ fees, awarded to our client
  • Defense of regional sales manager of pharmaceutical company in DOJ anti-kickback investigation; no charges brought
  • Conducted worldwide investigations into potential corruption violations at medical device, transportation, and other companies, including in-country investigations in Azerbaijan, Germany, India, Russia, and Turkey
  • Provided compliance recommendations to life science and chemical companies, including creating a full compliance program, and performing a gap analysis of an existing program
  • Investigated and prosecuted, while in government, corruption cases against a sitting U.S. Congressman and the Executive Director of the CIA
